In the middle of Naruto: Shippuden, the story shifts into a much darker and more global conflict as the Akatsuki intensify their hunt for the tailed beasts, successfully capturing several and putting the ninja world on edge. During this period, Naruto Uzumaki returns from training with Jiraiya and begins mastering the Sage Mode, significantly increasing his strength and maturity as he struggles with the weight of protecting his village and understanding pain on a deeper level, especially after learning more about his father and the cycle of hatred affecting the world. At the same time, Sasuke Uchiha continues down a darker path after killing Orochimaru and forming his own team to take down the Hidden Leaf leadership, driven by revenge against his brother Itachi and later the entire village system he believes failed his clan. This tension peaks when Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki, launches a devastating attack on the Hidden Leaf, destroying much of the village and forcing Naruto into a critical battle where he ultimately surpasses his limits and earns the villagers’ recognition.

| In the Pain Arc of Naruto: Shippuden, Pain attacks the Hidden Leaf Village in search of Naruto and destroys much of the village with a massive attack. During the fight, Naruto learns about Pain’s painful past and his belief that suffering is the only way to create peace. Naruto refuses to give up on his own ideals and tries to end the cycle of hatred without revenge. In the end, Pain is inspired by Naruto’s determination and sacrifices himself to revive the people of the village. |
In Naruto: Shippuden, Tobi begins the Fourth Great Ninja War after declaring war on the Five Great Nations at the Five Kage Summit. He reveals his plan to capture Naruto and Killer Bee in order to revive the Ten-Tails and cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi over the world. The five nations form the Allied Shinobi Forces and unite for the first time to fight against Tobi and the Akatsuki. During the war, many powerful ninja are brought back through Edo Tensei, leading to major battles across the battlefield. The conflict becomes one of the largest and most important events in the entire Naruto series, changing the lives of Naruto, Sasuke, and the ninja world forever. |
